Shopping in North Cyprus
Supermarkets, shopping centers, local markets, and daily living costs
Supermarkets and Markets
Large supermarket chains are widespread in the TRNC. Chain stores like Lemar, Erülkü, Starling, and Tempo are found in every city. These supermarkets sell both local and imported products.
Turkish brands (Ülker, Eti, Pınar, Sütaş, etc.) are widely available. British products (Heinz, Cadbury, Twinings, etc.) are also common, especially in the Kyrenia region. Prices are generally slightly above Turkey but below Europe. Most markets accept credit cards.
Local Markets and Market Days
Open-air markets set up on specific days of the week are the most affordable shopping spots for fresh fruits, vegetables, and local products. Markets are held in Kyrenia on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Nicosia on Tuesdays and Fridays, Famagusta on Thursdays, and İskele on Saturdays.
At markets, you can find fresh citrus fruits, pomegranates, olives, olive oil, halloumi cheese, various spices, and homemade jams. Prices are 30-50% lower than shops, and bargaining is a common practice.
Shopping Centers and Stores
Modern shopping centers are increasing in the TRNC. Nicosia has City Mall and NiS, Kyrenia has Jasmine Court and Lambousa, and Famagusta has Salamis Bay Conti Resort, among other shopping and entertainment centers.
Clothing stores (Turkish brands like LC Waikiki, Koton, DeFacto), electronics stores, furniture shops, and bookstores are common in city centers. Imported brand stores are found especially in Kyrenia's tourist areas.
